As our name suggests this is a site dedicated to the fisher folk who ply the briny. On our site you will see reports, articles and reviews about issues and products that relate to the great outdoors. This includes fishing, boating, hunting and how to get more enjoyment out of your time afloat and afield.

My name is Charley Soares and I’m a full time outdoor writer, lecturer, salt water fishing guide and consultant (I sold my very first story to Frank Woolner of Salt Water Sportsman in November of 1964). I pioneered a unique specialty of guiding fishermen on their own boats in their home waters. That idea has been very well received by fishermen and new boat owners from the Merrimack River to Cuttyhunk and the Vineyard (where I’ve fished for over 40 years) to Block Island. That covers a lot of water. Sharing the knowledge and experience I’ve gained during this period of time has been a very rewarding and enjoyable experience. From the time I was old enough to sneak off to the shores of the Taunton River the lure of the fishing, boating and the adventures they presented have been a life-long passion. At this moment I’m working in my office, looking out onto the shores of the Coles River, which feeds into Mt Hope and Narragansett Bay - our home for the past 35 years.
